I think one thing potential students should know about academic programs in general here is our professors are super supportive. Since our class sizes are so small, they're always available. A lot of times you have some of their personal contact information, so you're not just boxed in seeing them one hour a week in a huge lecture hall. With my degree in Collaborative Education, you can go into the classroom and teach, and so our collaborative program certifies you for kindergarten through sixth grade. That also qualifies you to do things like tutor, and that gives you the credentials that you need to take those specialized positions.
So with Exercise Science, there's a lot you can do with it. A lot of people always automatically assume either PT school or OT school, but that's not always the case. There's plenty of opportunities with Exercise Science. We have one faculty member that was one of the seven researchers for Gatorade. We do a lot of cool stuff. It's probably the coolest major on campus
Students across the board in the college and all the different majors get a lot of different kinds of experience. One example is the Marketing students have access to the Steele Sales Center, and they have a sales team where they go and compete nationally and do very well.
We have a UNA Alumni Geography conference, in which we bring in alumni to look at all of our students' resumes that they have to present, look at their posters and their research, and it's a great opportunity to try to get good jobs and internships, and it shows them what you can do as a student.
What I think students should know about academic programs at UNA, is that there's a lot more programs than you would actually think. I think every single week I hear about a new program that's come to our campus. And that's something that I think is really cool that you wouldn't think to see at UNA.
